About Paul
I currently live outside of Dayton, Washington in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Mountains. Drawing and painting have always been favorite activities of mine. Transparent watercolor is my primary art medium because of its clean, crisp, luminous qualities. It has been a joy to find ways to achieve depth, distance and form in my paintings. People and animals are my favorite subjects and usually are chosen from personal photos however, many of my works are by commission. I also enjoy painting landscapes with big skies and local settings. I am intrigued with light and shadow and try to choose subjects that include varied lighting from harsh sun to soft, indirect, reflected light.
